HOUSE OF Q, Bursa | Türkiye
The conversion of the "House of Q" was developed as a clearly structured family home design, where the materiality, the spatial organisation and the technical integration were aimed at permanence and peaceful use.
The organisation of the ground plan follows a clear separation between private and common areas. Sliding and pivoting doors arranged along this line take on both functional and space-forming tasks and structure the transition between the zones. On the ground floor, the existing separating walls were mostly removed so that all living functions were combined into one open room structure. The entrance area, the living and dining zones and the kitchen are now visually connected. The former entrance area was spatially included with a panel-type reorganisation and integrated into the open floor plan. The bedrooms are set back from the open living area by a linear break in the floor. Stair and ceiling lighting are a part of this organisation and support the linear direction through the house.
The material use is characterised by a consistent surface in concrete look for floors, walls and ceilings. All fixtures are included in this material logic and strengthen the impression of a coherent space continuum. The dark colours requested by the owner were not implemented as a dominant colour concept, but interpreted with materiality, surface structure and targeted accents. Large openings created visual connections to the garden and enable a uniform illumination of the inner spaces.
The electrical installation is fully integrated into the architectural concept. The switches and control elements of the LS ZERO and LS 990 design ranges are flush-mounted and matched to the surfaces. Individual colours from Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier®, such as Ombre Naturelle Claire 32142 and Orange Pale 32082, create restrained accents. The house technology is controlled with a KNX system and complements the functional direction of the design.
